The App.t project has started collaborating with Gecko Programmes, coordinators of the Youth Talent to Market (YTTM) project.
This is an Erasmus+ funded strategic partnership that aims to develop enterprise skills in artists and artisans, with a view to helping them start or manage their art business. The partnership is composed of three organisations that work in the creative sector:
- Gecko Programmes (UK)
- CEDIT (Italy)
- LC Youth (Cyprus)
The aim of this project is to develop, test and adopt innovative practices that will support artisans to develop and sustain a business in this sector.
Young artists and artisans from the UK will go abroad for a two-week enterprise workshop and will practice their new skills with Italian and Cypriot customers and learn how our European neighbors work and live. Reciprocally, Italian and Cypriot artists will come to Wolverhampton for the same experience.
The Italian and Cypriot trainers from YTTM are scheduled to visit the University of Wolverhampton on 15 October. Artists and artisans will take part in piloting of the App.t app during their workshops, provisionally scheduled for January and June 2016.
Patrick Cross, Managing Director of Gecko Programmes explains: “this is a fantastic opportunity for artists and artisans to boost enterprise skills. We have already seen the difference this makes to confidence and abilities, with young people returning with great ideas and enthusiasm to make themselves stand out in a tough job market. It is also another great opportunity to work with the University to develop learning materials and methods”.
